Arlo Hotel’s Best NYC Shopping Experiences

For some Manhattan visitors, the city is more than a place for pizza, skyscraper views, and parks. It’s a shopper’s paradise, with thousands of stores and several shopping areas that have something for everyone. At Arlo Hotel, our staff frequently recommend their favorite shopping streets and neighborhoods to our guests.

The East Village offers bohemian charm and several fun stores. It’s the perfect area to find silly sunglasses or t-shirts as well as vintage pieces that always come back into style. Grab some new/old clothes on St. Marks Place and show them off in New York City, a place that exemplifies the contrast between historical charms and modern influences.

In SoHo (where we have our amazing Arlo SoHo location), there’s an abundance of shopping options. It’s home to several brand name stores as well as dozens of great boutiques. SoHo is also a lovely neighborhood for a stroll, with cobblestone lined streets and gorgeous architecture that add sophistication to the storefronts. Beyond the many clothing options, there’s also multiple art vendors featuring original art pieces that can be shipped back home after your fabulous trip. Running from SoHo into NoHo is Lafayette Street, which is known as an “antiques row” due to the great (yet expensive) furniture stores, which offer an amazingly eclectic array of pieces for the home.

For art exhibits and galleries galore, head to Chelsea which contains around 250 galleries which feature multiple original pieces that can fit any décor or budget. There are galleries such as the Yancey Richardson Gallery, Hauser & Wirth, and Pace that present some of the hottest new artist collections, with some pieces available for sale.

Whether you’re looking for a $5 souvenir, a priceless antique, or a hip pair of vintage pants, Manhattan offers visitors a shopping outlet for every budget and taste. At Arlo Hotel, we recommend certain areas and stores, but also encourage guests to explore shopping on their own, so they can find those hidden gems that will remind them of their visit for years to come.
